In response to schools’ requests for more live music performances, particularly of repertoire linked to set works, LMEP and Bradford Music Education Hub are pleased to announce a free event for schools delivering A Level Music.  The event will include a live performance of the piano set works (AQA: Area of Study 1: the piano music of Chopin, Brahms and Grieg), an opportunity to discuss the pieces and a chance to meet with the performer afterwards.

The performer, Yuanfan Yang is a pianist, composer and improviser who was born in Edinburgh, but grew up in Leeds. A First Graduate of the Royal Academy of Music & the Royal College of Music, Yuanfan has won many competitions, including the Casagrande Competition and the Hong Kong International. He has performed around the world extensively as a soloist with major orchestras including Royal Philharmonic, Royal Northern Sinfonia, and Minnesota Orchestra. 2023 sees Yuanfan perform nearly 40 concerts across the UK and Italy including debuts at Brighton Festival, St George’s Bristol, Fazioli Concert Hall and Milan Auditorium.

The event will take place on Friday 17th November 2023 at The Leeds Conservatoire.  The performance will be 1.30 – 3.30pm and there will then be the opportunity to meet with Yuanfan in the cafe/bar area from 3.30 – 4.30pm, to allow students the opportunity to chat with him more informally.
