Celebrating 2025

Our Bradford

The photographs gathered bellow are from the Dye House Gallery part of Bradford College. In January 2025 they kindly hosted a public exhibition of work from Bradford school to launch the city of culture year.

The work gathered was a selection of work produced by thousands of district children from 60 different schools across the district in a project that was two years in the planning. Special thanks to Jo Poole of Home Farm Primary for jointly organising the project and the continuing support of the curator of Dye House gallery.

The Project had two elements:

  • Our Area:  Schools were asked to produce a collaborative 3D piece that celebrates the geography, buildings and personality of their postcode area. The schools were encouraged to focus on any local feature that interested the children and recreate it in any medium of their choice.
  • Our Hero and our Icon – schools were asked to produce a collaborative 2D piece celebrating a person local to their postcode. In some cases, this is a famous person known nationally or in some cases internationally or a local figure who has contributed to the community or simply a well-known local character. Some are current legends or those from history.
